My Mozaica galleries are works that I create on commission, using as a source of base materials a collection of drawings, paintings, and other crafts of a child. Like a poem, I compose the portrait of the imaginary world of each child by extracting the essence of his drawings, and laying it’s elements in the work at the whim of the inspiration they instill.

The Mozaica gallery of a child soon becomes a family heirloom, destined to be later bequeath to the grown-up child, to take place among his most precious and treasured souvenirs.

I also create “thematic” Mozaica galleries by using drawings made by a large number of children. These works depict real and imaginary collective worlds, and they are usually focused on a specific theme— my school, the hospital, peace, love, my family, my holidays, etc. I undertake most of these Mozaica galleries on my own initiative, or at the request of sponsors.

All my Mozaica galleries are digital prints of pigment inks on textured museum-quality art paper. When kept in a reasonably temperate environment (i.e. exempt of extreme moisture, temperature, and lighting conditions), Mozaica galleries framed under UV-reflective glass or acrylic have an expected life in excess of 100 years without fading or perceptible color shifts. Despite the quite distinct aspect of Mozaica galleries, their artistic genre is related to that of portraits. They reveal the personality, the vision, and the emotions of the child who is their subject, by depicting the still candid and naïve imagery through which he expressed himself in his early childhood.

Some have been inclined to associate my Mozaica galleries with naive art. In my view, such a denomination fails to reflect the peculiar nature, the complexity, and the specific character of Mozaica galleries; I find more appropriate to associate them with a distinct art movement that I call “Comfort art” (Art réconfort).

All authentic prints of my Mozaica galleries bear my personal seal. Each one is delivered accompanied by a formal certificate providing detailed informations to describe, identify, and authenticate the print.
